Acceptable Use Policy

The rules for what you may create with GenReel, how we screen content, and how we enforce them.

Last updated: 2026-11-05

1. Overview and Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") sets out what you may and may not do with GenReel. It applies to every AI generation feature, every photo you upload, and every output you create, share, or store through the Service. It should be read together with our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

By using the Service, you agree that you will not create, request, upload, or distribute prohibited content. This applies whether the content is free, paid, private, gated, or created for internal use.

2. What GenReel Does

GenReel is an AI video generator built around fixed templates. You choose a template, place one or more still photos into the photo slots that template provides, and the Service generates a short video of that fixed scene.

Some terms used in this policy:

  • Template — a pre-built scene with fixed motion, camera work, and cuts. Templates come from an allowlist. You cannot define or edit the scene.
  • Photo Slot — a fixed position inside a template where a photo is placed.
  • Input Photo — a still image you upload and place into a photo slot. It supplies the appearance of the person in that seat — face, hair, skin tone, build, clothing and accessories — while the template supplies the motion, camera work, cuts, scene and timing.
  • Template casting — the intended use of the Service: placing a photo of yourself, or of an adult who has agreed, into a fixed seat so that the performer in that seat takes on that person's appearance in a newly generated clip.
  • Output — the video clip generated from your input photos and the selected template.

These limits define the product, and they determine how this policy applies:

  • The only input is one or more still photos placed into fixed photo slots. There is no free-text prompt input.
  • You cannot upload a video, GIF, or footage, and you cannot supply or choose the reference scene. The scene is fixed and drawn from an allowlist.
  • Template casting is not a general face-swap tool: you cannot upload a target video, define the scene, or make one real person appear as another real person. The Service maps the person in your photo onto a fixed performer seat in the template.
  • An output is a newly generated clip that follows the template's fixed motion, camera work, cuts and scene. It is not the reference video itself, and it does not contain the reference video's footage. Seats you leave empty are filled by the template's AI band members.
  • The Service does not preserve a person's exact likeness. Outputs are produced by third-party video models — Seedance 2.0 Fast (ByteDance) for most templates, Wan 3.0 (Alibaba) for the Tiny Desk template. They may differ in appearance from the input photos and may contain visual artefacts.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You may upload photos only of yourself, or of other people who have given you permission to use their photo in this way and to share the resulting video.

4. Input Photos

Every photo you upload must meet the following conditions:

  • You own the photo, or you have permission to use it.
  • You have permission from every identifiable person shown to use their photo, to create an AI-generated video with their likeness, and to share that video.
  • No person shown is a minor. Do not upload photos of anyone under 18.
  • No person shown is a public figure or celebrity.
  • The photo is not a third-party copyrighted still, such as a frame from a film, a broadcast, or another creator's video.
  • The photo does not itself contain prohibited content, as described in Section 5.

Where we ask, you must be able to show that you hold the permissions described above. If you cannot, do not upload the photo.

5. Prohibited Content

You must not create, request, upload, or distribute:

  • Sexual or sexually suggestive content of any kind, including nudity and semi-nudity.
  • Undressing, fetish, or provocative-pose content.
  • Content that sexualises a person, a body part, or a reference photo.
  • Any content involving minors in a sexual, abusive, or exploitative context.
  • Child sexual abuse material, in any form.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery, or imagery that places a person in a sexual or intimate context without their consent.
  • Graphic violence, gore, or content that depicts serious injury or death.
  • Content that harasses, threatens, intimidates, or defames any person or group.
  • Hate speech, or content that promotes hatred or discrimination against people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
  • Illegal content, or content that promotes, facilitates, or instructs on illegal acts.
  • Content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.

This list is not exhaustive. Content substantially similar in nature is also prohibited.

6. Template Casting, Face-Swap and Impersonation

GenReel's intended use is template casting: you place a photo of yourself, or of an adult who has given you permission, into a fixed seat in an allowlisted template. The Service maps that person's appearance onto the performer in that seat and generates a new clip that follows the template's fixed motion, camera work and cuts.

You must not use the Service to:

  • Replace or disguise one real person's identity as another real person, or make a real person appear to be someone else.
  • Impersonate a real person, or present an output as authentic footage of a real person saying or doing something they did not say or do.
  • Place a person into a sexual, intimate, defamatory or misleading scene without their consent.
  • Use template casting to circumvent the consent, age or public-figure rules in Section 4.

Template casting is not a standalone face-swap tool: you cannot upload a target video, define the scene, or choose a different person's body. The reference scene, seats and motion are fixed by the template.

The following are prohibited whether or not anyone has consented:

  • Depicting a public figure.
  • Depicting anyone under 18.
  • Sexual, intimate or defamatory depictions.
  • Presenting an output as authentic footage of a real person, or using it to mislead about what a real person said or did.

7. Deceptive and Misleading Use

  • Do not present an output as authentic footage of a real person, or as a record of a real event.
  • Label outputs as AI-generated where required by law or by the platform you post on.
  • Do not imply that a real person said, endorsed, or supported something they did not.
  • Do not use outputs for political, campaign, or endorsement purposes.
  • Do not create fake testimonials, fake reviews, or other content intended to deceive.
  • Do not use outputs to commit fraud, or to mislead someone for financial gain.

8. Prohibited Conduct

Beyond the content rules above, you must not:

  • Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, our moderation, credit system, or rate limits.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service.
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract content or data from the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or models behind the Service.
  • Attempt unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
  • Interfere with the operation of the Service, or place unreasonable load on it.
  • Use automated means, such as scripts or bots, to generate content at scale.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

We may screen input photos and outputs using automated screening, third-party moderation services, human review, or a combination of these. We do not review every upload or every output, and we do not guarantee that all prohibited content will be detected.

Where we believe this policy has been violated, we may:

  • Block a request before generation.
  • Remove an output after it has been generated.
  • Suspend or terminate your account.
  • Cancel unused credits.
  • Report the matter to law enforcement or another authority where required by law.

We may take these steps without prior notice where the law requires it, or where we believe there is an imminent risk of harm. Where a request is blocked before generation, we do not charge for it where it is technically possible for us to avoid doing so.

If you believe we have acted in error, you may appeal using the contact details at the end of this policy. We review appeals on request and do not commit to a fixed response time.

10. Reporting a Violation

If you become aware of content or behaviour that violates this policy, please report it using the contact details at the end of this policy. Please include:

  • A link to the content, or to the account involved.
  • The account name or email address you are reporting, if you know it.
  • A short description of what you believe is prohibited, and why.

We review reports and take action where we consider it appropriate. We may not be able to tell you the outcome of a report.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy, to the extent permitted by law.
